The Value of Hardware Longevity

Technology is treated as disposable. Perfectly functional devices are discarded simply because something newer has arrived. This approach is not only wasteful but fundamentally misunderstands what technology is: tools that should serve us as long as they remain capable of doing so.

Practical Proof

This website runs on a 2013 Mac Pro—hardware that many would consider obsolete. Yet it performs this task with minimal resources and complete reliability. By pairing thoughtfully selected software (Zola) with this capable hardware, I've created a system that works beautifully without contributing to the growing mountain of e-waste.

What I'm Exploring

The Journey

The posts section contains my experiences, successes, and failures in this ongoing pursuit.

Looking Forward

I'm currently working on integrating solar power to make this server completely self-sustaining. This isn't just a technical challenge—it's a small but meaningful step toward a different relationship with technology: one based on longevity, sufficiency, and purpose rather than constant consumption.
